The Value of Body Language

A study by a major telecommunications company showed that more than 75% of all communication between people is nonverbal. That means that when you are in an important business negotiation, a job interview or almost any other interaction, the majority of the information you need to know is not coming from what the other person is actually saying. By effectively observing the other person’s body language, you can learn to understand what is really being said. By shifting your own body language, you can effectively bolster your own intended message and profoundly increase your chances of success at work and in your personal relationships.

Understanding Body Language

Body language is the study of habitual patterns, tendencies and probabilities. In the Collard approach to body language, the human body is divided into four distinct areas – The Eyes, The Face, The Hands and the Body. By addressing each area individually, you will learn to sharpen your observation skills and identify tendencies and how they relate to the entire person.
